Food in the Hub: A Summit On Access to Affordable Healthy Foods in Boston

The Food Project recently partnered with Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston Medical Center and the Boston Public Health Commission to convene stakeholders in Boston’s food system to discuss access to healthy food in Boston.

The morning was filled with informative and inspiring speakers, including Sharon Reilly, Community Relations Director at The Food Project. She was followed by a performance at lunch by Wilbur Bullock of The Food Project. Wil sang two songs from his new album “It’s Time For Change,” and received a standing ovation from summit participants.

In the afternoon participants formed small groups and discussed strategies and goals for increasing access to healthy, local and affordable food in Boston.

The mayor of Boston also spoke in the morning and challenged the people of Boston to work on this very important issue. Read more about what the mayor said at the City of Boston website; search for “healthy food” in the Search by Keyword form that comes up.
