The Ecological Farming Association, presenter of the Ecological Farming Conference and other sustainable agriculture events for 29 years, is seeking an experienced, energetic, detail-oriented and organized Food Donations Coordinator to join our staff. The ideal candidate will be computer and database savvy with great interpersonal skills and interest in/knowledge of organic and natural foods.
Target Hire Date: September 22, 2008. 32 – 40 hours per week. This position is temporary through February 15, 2009 and not eligible for benefits, except to the extent required by provision of law. Non-exempt, hourly $15 - $20/hour depending on experience.
Job Description
The Food Donations Coordinator will support the Conference Food Coordinator in the production of delicious organic meals, snacks and reception catering for the 1500 participants of the annual Ecological Farming Conference (January 21 - 24, 2009) by coordinating the procurement of food for the program, mostly through donations from organic and natural foods companies and farms.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage Filemaker database of potential donors.
- Manage donor solicitation through letters, e-mail and phone.
- Coordinate donation shipping and deliveries.
- Place orders for donation shortfalls.
- Coordinate with communications staff for food program information in the conference program, signage, and table cards.
- Receive and organize donated and purchased items at conference, trouble shooting with Food Coordinator for shorted items and substitutions.
- Coordinate donor and venue appreciation activities.
- Support Food Coordinator onsite at the conference (January 19 – 24, 2009) in implementing planned menus and food, and organizing ingredients for meals, catering, snack bars, and farmers market
- Participate in post-conference wrap up and evaluation.
The Food Donations Coordinator will be assigned other conference duties as needed, including customer service and registration.
