NOFA/Mass Community Farm Organizer – Barre, MA

This position is a 15-25 hour per week position. Total hours to be determined. Applications will be accepted until July 15. This is an employee position. Starting pay is $11/hour, to be raised to $12/hour on October 1. NOFA/Mass Employees must be members of NOFA/Mass in good standing, must attend the annual staff meeting on Thursday, October 30, 9-4 pm and the annual staff/board retreat on February 27, 28 and March 1.Email (preferable) or send resume to Julie Rawson at or 411 Sheldon Road, Barre, MA 01005. • Research existing Community Farms, their origins, ownership structure, programs, finances, etc

• Research available funding from federal, state, local, and private groups for both organizing and set up

• Target specific communities for organizing based on:

    -  Expressions of interest from local groups and individuals

    -  Availability of farmland

    -  Demographics of local residents and likelihood of broad use and support

    -  Community need

• Work with local groups to identify accessible land, long-term sponsor, governance, funding and programs

• Help guide Community Farm through the set-up phase and leave in hands of strong local group
