The Sharing the Harvest Community Farm Project is a collaboration between the Dartmouth YMCA, United Way of Greater New Bedford, and the Hunger Commission of Southeastern Massachusetts (a program of United Way).

Sharing the Harvest is a community farm run by volunteers.  It was established in 2006 as a grassroots effort to alleviate hunger for children and families throughout the Southcoast region.  Through the efforts of more than 500 volunteers of all ages and abilities, thousands of children and families from Fall River to Wareham received over 15000lbs of produce in 2008.

This position requires someone who enjoys working outdoors and has a background in farming, farm equipment, and planting.  He/She should be patient, persistent and self- motivated.  Flexibility and a practical approach to solving problems is useful.  Need to keep up with the latest in cultivation and harvesting methods.

Additionally, the farmer should be comfortable working with volunteers, building relationships, leading farming education and seeking potential donors.
