Live Earth Farm, established in 1996, is a 45 acre diversified, organic, family farm overlooking the Green Valley in the Santa Cruz area of California. We offer a year round CSA with 700 members during the regular season. We grow 40 different fruits and vegetables ranging from perennial fruit trees to a wide variety of annual crops. We sell our produce at four area farmer’s markets and through a 700 member CSA program.
We are offering a new Farm Educator Internship this school year. This internship will have a unique focus on our education programs. The intern will spend at least 50% of their time on these activities and the other 50% on farm tasks. Education programs include: a weekly visit by 7th and 8th grade Montessori students, half day farm tours for students of all ages and two afternoons a week with middle school students from a local charter school.
The position will involve leading farm tours, working with ongoing farm education programs and some office work such as scheduling farm tours and processing deposits and payments. Farm tasks include vegetable and fruit production and marketing, animal care and greenhouse management.
The right person for this position will be able to demonstrate experience and basic theoretical knowledge in organic and sustainable food production systems. Ideally, you will have worked an entire season on a farm or garden project and be bilingual in Spanish. This is a learning experience, we expect you to arrive with a good work ethic and a positive attitude. Please be aware that farming is hard work and we require a full season commitment. This is a position for someone seriously interested in sustainable farming, food, and community education. It can serve as a stepping stone to pursue a career as an educator and/or farmer, as we offer the opportunity to learn the ropes of a small scale organic farming operation and farm education nonprofit.
We ask that you arrive on the farm at the end of October. This will give our Education Programs Coordinator, Jessica an opportunity to work with you one on one. We ask that you stay through the end of May so that you can participate in the full school year cycle. An additional summer internship is also a possibility.

Full Circle Farm is a brand new 11-acre nonprofit, educational farm in the heart of Silicon Valley. Nestled in a residential neighborhood on the back half of a local middle school, we are part of a community-focused, educational organization dedicated to bringing fresh local food and environmental and nutrition education to both students and community.
We currently have 2.5 acres in production, and are looking for an experienced farmer to help us expand. The ideal candidate will be wholly dedicated to sustainable farming methods and utilizing our community’s involvement.
Full Circle Farm hopes to create a model system of growing healthy food for the school district and immediate community, with an emphasis on bringing affordably-priced produce to low income households. It will also serve as an inspiring green open space that showcases the importance of a healthy local food system, good nutrition and sustainable building and agricultural practices.
As Farm Manager, you will serve as the public face for an open and welcoming farming operation. You will coordinate all aspects of food production, from planning and production of a mix of crops for sale in diverse markets, to directing farm staff, interns, and volunteers, to developing and overseeing distribution and sales. You will work with and report to the Executive Staff.
- Plan, grow and monitor crops and fruit trees, coordinating all aspects of farming and orchard operations
- Develop distribution infrastructure for diverse markets and coordinate sales, harvest and delivery of product to the school district, farm stand, and other customers
- Develop and implement organic soil fertility plan and pest management plan
- Oversee tillage and cultivation, including safe operation of farm equipment; oversee irrigation, and greenhouse propagation
- Execute basic maintenance of farm equipment, vehicles, buildings, irrigation system and greenhouse
- Maintain planting and production records, including meeting certification requirements for farmer’s markets
- Manage farm staff, train apprentices, and lead volunteers
- Work at least one Saturday per month

The Sharing the Harvest Community Farm Project is currently seeking a seasonal part-time farmer for the 2009 growing season.
The Sharing the Harvest Community Farm Project is a collaboration between the Dartmouth YMCA, United Way of Greater New Bedford, and the Hunger Commission of Southeastern Massachusetts (a program of United Way).
Sharing the Harvest is a community farm run by volunteers. It was established in 2006 as a grassroots effort to alleviate hunger for children and families throughout the Southcoast region. The Dartmouth YMCA is currently seeking a part-time season farmer from March to Mid-November to serve as the key component of our unique farming operation. The farmer is responsible to plan, cultivate, manage, and harvest the crops. In addition the farmer should be comfortable with soils and fertilization in order to produce healthy plants. Sharing the Harvest is proud of its culture in sustainability and alternate farming methods.
This position requires someone who enjoys working outdoors and has a background in farming, farm equipment, and planting. He/She should be patient, persistent and self- motivated. The Ecological Farming Association, presenter of the Ecological Farming Conference and other sustainable agriculture events for 29 years, is seeking an experienced, energetic, detail-oriented and organized Food Donations Coordinator to join our staff. The Food Donations Coordinator will support the Conference Food Coordinator in the production of delicious organic meals, snacks and reception catering for the 1500 participants of the annual Ecological Farming Conference (January 21 – 24, 2009) by coordinating the procurement of food for the program, mostly through donations from organic and natural foods companies and farms.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage Filemaker database of potential donors.
- Manage donor solicitation through letters, e-mail and phone.
- Coordinate donation shipping and deliveries.

The Central Coast Farm-to-School Project Coordinator will share responsibility for activities in elementary schools located in Alisal Union School District in Salinas.
